Silently Love You

You think I’m like the others

Pretending to be someone they’re not

But if you just took the time

You’ll see I’m very different.

Seeing you smiling is enough.

Knowing that you’re fine is O.K.

I wouldn’t ask for anything more

I could be this way forever

Wishing upon a star

That someday you’ll see me too

Aware that it is impossible

So I silently love you

Crossing the ocean

To get a glimpse of you

Is nothing compared to knowing you

It’s just too hard to get close to you

So I would probably be behind

From all those others in love

Who am I to say they aren’t worthy

I maybe just like them

But hoping you can see

The person writing this poem

Praying this would make you smile

As I silently love you
